TAS Swimmers Teams huge effort at MS 24hr Swim

TAS Swimmer A set a target of 100 Kilometers, some sixteen more than they achieved last year. Half way through the night they realized they were going to struggle to get the distance. They changed their tactics and set a target for all other fund raisers down the coast of 103.4 klms. That’s a 1500 every 22 minutes for a
whole 24 hrs.

Our TAS Swimmer 2 team managed a very impressive 73.3 klms to finish second. This team full of younger swimmers including , Stephanie Schmidt, Gaby Houston, Emma Simpson, Emily Houston, Charlotte Harris, Jordan Owen, Sophie Owen, Dylan Siegmann, Liam Simpson, and Jack Lawrence did a great job showing off to everyone how good they are in the water. A big thanks to Darshan Singh and Celina Samarakoon for staying the whole 24 hrs helping record laps. Darshan will hopefully get back in the water soon after a broken arm . Isabel Byrne again the star of the event, big, big thanks

TAS Aquatic Centre Refurbishment

The TAS Aquatic Centre, which is widely recognised as the leading complex of its type in Regional Australia, is to be refurbished.  The pool first opened in June 2000, and this is the first time in its ten years of operation that the Centre will have been closed.  The work is required in order to keep the Centre at its peak level of operation.

We anticipate that the Centre will remain clised for the entire month of May from Saturday 27 April until Monday 1 June 2012.  The precise dates of the closure will be determined by the weather.

The refurbishment will include:
  • Extensive cleaning of the swimming pool, renewal of all expansion joints and re-grouting of all pool titles
  • Complete renovation of all changing rooms
  • High pressure washing of all pool surrounds
  • Repairs and upgrades to existing fencing

We hope to minimise any incovenience the temporary closure for this refurbishment may cause.

For more information phone 4036 8193 or 4036 8195 or visit the TAS Aquatic Centre, at Progress Road, White Rock.
